Helping Housing Dreams Come True
Missouri usually uses the money from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to serve low-income residents, homeless people, those with special needs, small cities and small counties.
"We are very interested in what's going on in regards to Missouri economic development," said Miriam Mahan, St. Charles housing advocate, "and what improvements, where the lack of fundings, where new moneys are."
Papen responded by saying rural housing projects may receive less money.
"The only real change is just a little bit more money set aside for downtown revitalization," he explained, "partly because of the governor's initiative on downtown revitalization."
The money will be available starting next April.
