Helping Rainbow House Help Kids
When Rainbow House helps youngsters, it gives them a bag of clothes and other personal items. But this holiday season, donations are down while needs are up.
"Well, socks and underwear really aren't a second-hand item," explained Ron Graves, Rainbow House development director. "It's really not an item that you would find in a donation from anybody. So, these are items that we have a great need for."
Caroline Maher is doing her best to help. She and her employees at Caroline & Company have held a children's clothing drive for the past three years. This year, they added a few items to the list of donations. In addition to the usual socks and underwear, they're also asking for children's pajamas, diapers and pull-ups.
But, Maher says, they're not even close to her goal of collecting 20,000 items, so they need your help.
"It's just, you know, it's the little kids," she said. "They, you want to take care of the little kids. You know, they don't ask to come into this life, and they need."
Caroline & Company will accept donations at its office, 311 S. Providence Road, at least through Christmas day. If you have questions about what items are needed, call 573-449-3109.
