Hickman, Rock Bridge choose new football coaches
COLUMBIA - The Hickman and Rock Bridge high school football teams will each have a new head coach for the 2017-18 school year, Columbia Public Schools announced Wednesday.
Trevor Rubly has been chosen to lead the Kewpies, while Van Vanatta will lead the Bruins.
Rubly comes from Enid, Okla., where he has been an assistant coach at Enid High School. He has held coaching positions over more than 13 years, including with the University of Missouri, Bacone College, Cisco Junior College, and Warrensburg High School. Rubly has a master's degree in education school and counseling pyschology from the University of Missouri and a bachelor's degree in physical education from Central Missouri State University. He will also work as a full-time teacher at Hickman.
Vanatta comes from a head coaching job at Hazelwood Central High School in Florissant. He also coached baseball at Central Methodist University, and was an assistant baseball and assistanct football coach at University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. Certified in both physical education and health, Vanatta has a master's degree in education foundations from Central Methodist University. He will also work as a full-time teacher at Rock Bridge.
