High Gas Prices Drive More Visitors to Lake
This week's rise in temperatures and gas prices could add up to a lucrative season at the lake. Bridgeport Marina even opened its doors earlier than usual.
"We're right here at Easter weekend, and it's gorgeous out," said Bridgeport's Darrel Law. "And that will bring people in."
As gas prices climb, local tourism officials said the lake's mid-Missouri location provides an advantage over more-distant vacation spots.
"I think the fact that we are close enough to drive to will enhance our market rather than hurt us," said Bruce Mitchell of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce.
