High-speed vehicle pursuit ends in arrest
JEFFERSON CITY - Deputies arrested a man early Monday after a weekend domestic incident and chase.
According to the Cole County Sheriff's Office, the suspect and another person got into a fight Saturday night. The suspect had a restraining order against him, as well as an order for a four-day mental commitment. Deputies said the man continued to harass the other person until authorities found his vehicle shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday.
A press release said the suspect didn't stop for deputies, leading to a chase which started on Route D and continued onto Highway 50 and then Highway 179. A state trooper was able to spike the suspect's tire, after which the suspect vehicle hit another vehicle near Country Club Drive.
The chase continued as the suspect reportedly drove through residential yards on Route T, and ended when the suspect crashed on Verdant Lane. Deputies continued to chase the man on foot until they caught him on Traci Drive. They arrested him on suspicion of resisting arrest, driving while revoked, domestic assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
