Honor Flight Heading to Washington Despite Shutdown
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis-area World War II and Korean War veterans are heading to Washington to see the war memorials, government shutdown or not.
KSDK-TV reports that a group of 15 veterans from Aberdeen Heights Senior Living in Kirkwood left Tuesday. Though the shutdown has technically forced closure of the memorials, the National Park Service says honor flight members will not be prohibited from entering.
Sen. Roy Blunt's office says the Republican lawmaker will meet the group in Washington to make sure they have access.
