House Overrides Gun Bill Veto, Senate Continues Debate
JEFFERSON CITY - The Senate will be debating late into Wednesday night on whether or not to override Governor Jay Nixon's veto of the gun bill.
The House voted to override the veto with the exact number of votes needed, 109. The Senate needs 23 votes to override.
The most discussed provision would prohibit law enforcement officers from enforcing federal gun laws in the state of Missouri.
Supporters of the bill say it would ensure the Second Amendment is protected in the state of Missouri. But opponents argue the bill will make it hard for officials to do their job.
