Humane Society Executive Director Resigns
COLUMBIA - According to an update on the Central Missouri Humane Society web site, the executive director of the shelter, veterinarian Alan Allert, has resigned.
The posting said Allert stepped down for health reasons. Officials state in the update that Allert took over leadership in a "challenging time in the organization's history." The interim executive director is Julie Aber, who has been with the society for seven and a half years.
The posting said the shelter faces "major challenges with the growing number of animal intakes."
According to the web page, the staff of the CMHS is planning a community education effort in the future to raise support for animal adoption efforts.
