I-70 Limited to One Lane on Monday, May 20
BOONE COUNTY - Interstate 70 will be temporarily closed at the Route Z interchange during nighttime hours on May 20 to set concrete girders for the new Route Z overpass.
Both the eastbound and westbound lanes will be down to one lane of traffic from 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21. For most of that time, single-lane traffic will be diverted over the exit ramps and back onto the interstate. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for Tuesday night.
The work is part of a project to improve Route Z in Boone County. The project consists of replacing the existing Route Z bridge over Interstate 70, adding shoulders and resurfacing Route Z from I-70 to St. Charles Road, and building a roundabout at the intersection of Route Z and St. Charles Road. The Route Z interchange is scheduled to be completed in early August. Motorists can access Route Z by taking the north outer road from Route J in Callaway County, while Rangeline Road can be accessed by taking the south outer road from Lake of the Woods/St. Charles Road.
