Improving Defense Helping Chiefs Save Season
KANSAS CITY (AP) -- When they square off against Kansas City next Monday night, the San Diego Chargers will be facing a defense that hasn't allowed a point in six straight quarters.
That's something no Chiefs defense has accomplished since the 1997 team went 13-3.
It's quite a turnaround for a defense that began the season by getting outscored 89-10 in the first two games.
There are plenty of reasons for the turnaround. But one is the closeness of cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Brandon Flowers. Those two are constantly getting together, studying film and comparing notes and thoughts. It paid off big in a 28-0 shutout of Oakland last week with six interceptions, including two by Flowers.
