Inflation Rate Higher in St. Louis Than Nationally
ST. LOUIS (AP) - The latest Consumer Price Index figures show that prices have risen more in St. Louis than in the country as a whole.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/nO4k1n) on Friday reported that the metro area's CPI rose 3.3 percent between the first half of 2010 and the first half of this year. That compared to a 2.8-percent increase for all cities.
The biggest difference was in electricity prices, which jumped 17.2 percent n St. Louis, compared to 1.4 percent nationally. One area where St. Louis had less inflation than the rest of the country was in the price of food.
