Injuries reported when car hits onlookers before parade
HAZELWOOD (AP) — St. Louis area police said injuries have been reported after a car hit people waiting for a homecoming parade to begin.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police say multiple injuries were recorded Saturday when the vehicle spun out of control and into onlookers waiting for start of the Hazelwood West High School homecoming parade.
Hazelwood police say none of the injuries were life-threatening and it is unclear how many people were taken to hospitals.
Police said the incident occurred near an intersection when a Ford Mustang spun out of control after striking another vehicle.
The 17-year-old driving the Mustang was taken into custody facing charges of careless and imprudent driving and second-degree assault.
The accident is under investigation.
