Interstate 70 bridge project affecting drivers this week
COLUMBIA - Some drivers commute may be affected this week due to construction on Interstate 70 bridges.
The construction will take place on three different bridges as well as Rangeline.
The delays on Interstate 70 are as follows:
The eastbound I-70 passing lane will be closed from 8 p.m. on Dec. 16 to 5 a.m. on Dec. 17 at which time eastbound traffic will be shifted to the existing westbound bridge at Garth Avenue.
The eastbound I-70 passing lane will be closed from 8 p.m. on Dec. 17 to 5 a.m. on Dec. 18 at which time eastbound traffic will be shifted to the existing westbound bridge at Rangeline Street.
The eastbound I-70 off ramp at Providence will be closed the night of Dec. 16, and the eastbound I-70 on ramp at Providence will be closed the night of Dec. 17.
The speed limit on I-70 through the work zone will be reduced from 60 mph to 50 mph.
The delays on Rangeline are as follows:
The northbound and southbound lanes of Rangeline will be closed from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Dec. 14 and 15.
The lane closures will alternate between the right and left lanes, with one lane remaining open at all times.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation's website, the project is about 22 percent complete.
The I-70 Bridge Project is an $18 million design project to replace bridges over Business Loop 70 and West Boulevard.
