JCPD investigates disturbance involving a firearm near LU
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police are trying to figure out what happened at a big fight near Lincoln University's campus Tuesday. Investigators said they arrested a woman who tried to break up the fight by firing a handgun.
It happened in the 700 block of Clark Avenue. Police said a large group of juveniles split up and ran away when officers arrived.
The woman, Dixie Deluca, was taken into custody and the gun was seized as evidence, a news release said. Deluca is the mother of one of the people involved in the fight, police said.
Jefferson City Police, Lincoln University Police and Cole County sheriff's deputies searched the campus nearby and found several people who had been at the scene of the fight.
Investigators said they spent most of the day identifying juveniles as witnesses or potential suspects.
"There has been no cooperation from those juveniles or their parents," the release said.
