Jefferson City apartment fire causes $75,000 in damage
JEFFERSON CITY — The Jefferson City Fire Department said an apartment fire caused upwards of $75,000 in damage Friday afternoon.
According to the department, firefighters responded to the 500 block of Senate Court around 4 p.m. after callers reported seeing flames from Castle Drive.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw a fire on a deck was spreading to the side and interior of the building.
Fire officials said one resident was home at the time of the fire, but was not injured.
Most of the damage occurred on the top floor apartment. Firefighters later determined the fire started on the deck.
A total of 17 firefighters responded to the scene.
