Jefferson City Area Senator to Announce Future Plans
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City area senator is expected to announce his future plans Wednesday morning on the last stop of his annual "Flapjack Tour."
Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, will serve pancakes and coffee to citizens from 7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Park in Jefferson City.
Kehoe represents Morgan, Moniteau, Miller, Cole, Maries, Osage and Gasconade counties.
Voters sent Kehoe to the Missouri Senate in 2010, meaning he is eligible to run for one more term in Nov. 2014. Kehoe may announce he is running for a second term Wednesday.
Kehoe owned a Ford dealership in Jefferson City from 1992-2011 and often takes on transportation issues. Kehoe chairs the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Kehoe sponsored a failed attempt in the 2013 legislative session to place a transportation ballot initiative on the November 2014 ballot.
The initiative would have allowed voters to decide whether to raise the state sales tax rate by one percent to pay for road improvements.
Kehoe is now rallying behind a citizen effort to get the initiative on the ballot.
