Jefferson City Band Director Submits Resignation
JEFFERSON CITY - A middle school band director accused of sexual contact with a minor submitted his resignation to the Jefferson City School Board Wednesday morning.
Chris Knehans was charged in October 2011 with two counts of sexual contact with a student.
Since the charges have been brought forward, Knehans was on paid adminstration leave.
Also, on Wednesday morning Knehans appeared in court for a motion hearing. A judge set a trial for the middle of June.
Jefferson City School representative David Luther told KOMU that the school board accepted Knehans's resignation in a closed session under the resloution that he relinquish his teaching license to the state of Missouri.
