Jefferson City Council Unanimously Approves Ward Redistricting
JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City Council unanimously approved the ward redistricting proposal at its meeting Monday night. They approved Option 2 aimed at making the wards an equal proportion of the population and giving equal power to each voter.
The redistricting affects 4,000 Jefferson City residents, specifically those living in wards four and five. The approved plan indicates ward five would expand west into what was ward four. Ward five will gain 900 people and ward four will lose 2,000.
The council quickly approved the redistricting proposal Monday. Project director, Janice McMillan, said the proposal moved easily with little opposition.
