JEFFERSON CITY - There are several ways to honor veterans this Memorial Day.

Starting in the morning, a memorial service starts at 10:30 at the National Cemetery. The ceremony will include a two-bell memorial to honor those who served this past year from May 2013 to May 2014. The featured speaker will be Maj. Gen. Henry W. Stratman. The service is sponsored by the Jefferson City Veterans Council.

Later in the afternoon, the Jefferson City Community Symphonic Band will kick things off with a concert at 1 p.m. The idea is to honor fallen soldiers, servicemen and women and the families that have been effected by war. This band will perform until 3:30 p.m. at the church.

Finally, Jefferson Bank's Salute to Vets begins at 3 p.m. at the Capitol Rotunda.

All of these events are family friendly and encourage groups to get together and honor those who have served our country.
