Jefferson City man arrested after allegedly abusing 4-year-old daughter
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his 4-year-old daughter Saturday at Capital Mall.
Police responded to an assault involving a small child at the Capital Mall just before 4 p.m. Witnesses say they saw a male punching and kicking his four-year-old daughter before fleeing the area with the child.
Officers later found the suspect and child at a residence in Jefferson City.
According to police, the child had "obvious but minor injuries as a result of the assault. The child was taken into protective custody and the man was arrested for child abuse.
The Department of Family Services and the Jefferson City Police Department are investigating the situation.
