Jefferson City man charged with sexual contact with 11-year-old
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City man was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday after allegedly making sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl in August.
18-year-old Edward Armstrong was arrested Sept. 9 in Cole County and charged with first degree child molestation and sexual misconduct Involving a child.
The incident took place Aug. 5 at Memorial Pool in Jefferson City, when the victim said Armstrong fondled her and forced her hand inside his pants. She also said Armstrong attempted to force her to perform oral sex.
A juvenile witness said he observed Armstrong pulling on the victim's arm and leading her toward the woods outside the pool.
The victim said she repeatedly told Armstrong she did not want to go to the woods, did not want him fondling her and did not want to perform oral sex. She later identified Armstrong from a photo lineup.
According to police, Armstrong admitted to putting the victim's hand inside his pants and attempting to get her to perform oral sex. He denied forcing the victim to go to the wooded area and also denied fondling her. He also said he knew the victim was young, but did not know her exact age.
