Jefferson City man sentenced for distributing heroin
JEFFERSON CITY – United States Attorney Tammy Dickinson announced Monday that a Jefferson City man was sentenced in federal court for distributing heroin.
38-year-old Brian Boykin, also known as “Denormus Okain” and “B”, was sentenced to eight years and two months in federal prison without parole.
Boykin sold heroin twice to a confidential police informant in November 2013 when he was on parole from a 15-year sentence. Boykin was arrested on Feb. 13, 2014, with 12 grams of heroin and one gram of crack cocaine in possession. He pleaded guilty on July 27, 2015.
The government filed a motion for the court to sentence Boykin to a longer term of incarceration than the maximum 87 months recommended by the federal sentencing guidelines. This case is Boykin's sixth felony prosecution, but he has only served approximately five years and three months in state prison.
