Jefferson City mother wins $20,000 lottery prize
JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Lottery announced Wednesday a Jefferson City mother won a $20,000 prize on a scratchers ticket.
Danielle Smith, 30, purchased several tickets on Sunday while visiting her family in St. Louis. "I've never bought that one, and that one looked new to me, so that's why I bought it," began Smith. "That was the last one I scratched."
Smith is a mother of two and a full time business administration student at Lincoln University. She said she plans to pay her car off with the prize money.
"I was jumping up and down, screaming, excited," recalled Smith. "It's nice, because it is money I didn't have.
Smith says she's still playing the lottery in hopes of winning a bigger prize.
"I follow the website all the time, and I see people winning," she explained. "I want to retire early. I've been working since I was 13."
