JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City police arrested a Chicago gang member Thursday around 5:30.

Latrell Doss, 22, was a passenger in a vehicle driving on the 900 block of East Miller Street. Police were conducting surveillance in the area and received information that a suspect wanted out of Chicago on a parole violation for weapons offenses was in Jefferson City. Police stopped the vehicle to investigate.

Doss attempted to flee and officers chased him down. Police say Doss then attempted to fight the officers and made various threats before he was taken into custody.

Doss was transported to the Cole County Jail on the parole warrant and felony resisting arrest charges.

Doss is suspected of robbing a beauty salon in Chicago on June 3, 2013. Doss and a female suspect reportedly went into a south-side Chicago salon and assaulted employees, knocking one out and threatening to use a firearm during the robbery. Doss and his accomplice left with around $5,000 in human hair and $2,000 in cash.

Police believe Doss left the Chicago area after the robbery, came to mid-Missouri and has been giving false information to Jefferson City Police in the multiple encounters he's had with local law enforcement since that time.

Doss was also wanted for questioning with other robberies and shootings, and is a known member of the Black Disciples gang.
