Jefferson City police searching for shooting suspect

JEFFERSON CITY — Jefferson City police had two suspects Friday after responding to multiple reports of shots fired at the 800 block of Monroe Street late Thursday night.

After the shots, witnesses claimed to see a white passenger car speeding south, away from the area. Police soon received another call describing a similar looking vehicle outside the Capital Region Medical Center's emergency room entrance.

When police arrived at the hospital, one of the car's two occupants was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The Jefferson City Criminal Investigations Section was called in to investigate. Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were questioned, but their responses were not sufficient to identify a potential suspect.

As of Friday, the case was still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jefferson City Police Department at (573) 634 - 6400 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 659 - TIPS.
