JEFFERSON CITY - A boil water advisory is in effect for all customers in the Missouri American Water Jefferson City service area. A temporary interruption in water service was caused by a 6-inch main break in Jefferson City Tuesday morning. This affects about 80 percent of the city.

Customers living in the boil advisory need to bring their water to a rolling boil for five minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. The boil advisory will be in effect until water quality samples confirm that the water is safe. Boil advisories usually last 24-36 hours after repairs are completed.
