Jefferson City woman sentenced for embezzlement
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City woman has been sentenced in federal court for embezzling more than $65,000 from her former employers.
Laura Lynn Winge, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of theft from an employee benefit plan in February, according to a press release.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the residential construction company Turk's Construction, Inc. as well as an affiliated company, Pools Unlimited, LLC which builds in-ground swimming pools.
During the time of her employment at both companies Winge admitted from withholding money from her employees in an IRA plan set up by Winge.
The court has ordered her to pay back the full amount in restitution as well as serve a year and a day in federal prison without parole.
