JeffTran's New South Route Makes Slight Adjustments
JEFFERSON CITY - The JeffTran "South" bus began an alternative route Monday to make waiting for the bus more convenient.
The slight adjustment aims to reduce the walking distance for residents living near Vieth Dr. Prior to JeffTran's changes, residents living in nearby homes and apartments had to walk to the corner of Vieth and Southridge until buses arrived.
The buses now travel down Yorktown to Rolling Hills, then to Southridge rather than staying on Vieth.
One resident said she does not use the bus system, but saw the importance of this adjustment.
"I would think it would help tremendously because of all the people in the neighborhood," said Suzann Schaeffer. "There are a lot of elderly people and they would be able to get around. They don't have any cars and they can get to the stores and doctors offices."
JeffTram will make this route every forty minutes and residents are asked to arrive five minutes before the scheduled time.
