SMITHVILLE, MO -- Kaitlyn Schwartze won the Park University Fall Invitational on Tuesday, beating out 49 other golfers to claim the individual championship. It marked the second scoring title in this calendar year for Schwartze, who last fall won the Green & Gold Shootout with a 160 (April 3). It was also the second time in program history a member of the Lincoln women's golf team won an individual scoring title.

Schwartze opened the tournament on Monday by firing a 73, the best 18-hole score by anyone in the 50-player field. She followed that performance with a 78 on Tuesday, finishing with a final score of 151 to finish seven-over par. The 151 was Schwartze's lowest two-round score in the past two seasons, with that total being nine-strokes better than her previous best in that span of 160. It was also the lowest tournament score by any member of the women's golf team over the past two years.

Through 36 holes, Schwartze led the field in birdies with eight and finished with the lowest composite score on par four holes (+4). She tied with teammate Sophia Pardalos for the fourth-best score on par fives (+3) and finished even on par three holes, the second-best result in the field. Schwartze also scored par on 14 holes en route to the victory.

Pardalos had the next-best finish for Lincoln, tying for 12th with a final score of 173. She cut three strokes off her first day score of 88 to shoot an 85 on Tuesday. Payton Schooler, the third and final member of the women's golf team competing at the Park Fall Invitational, finished in 15th after shooting rounds of 85 and 90 to finish with a total of 175. Schooler led the team with 15 pars in the tournament while Pardalos tied Schwartze with 14.

The Park Fall Invitational was played at the Posse course at the Paradise Poine Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo., which is the site of next Spring's Women's Golf Championship. Schwartze, Pardalos and Schooler each competed as individuals in the tournament, resulting in Lincoln not having a team score.

The Blue Tigers will be back on the links next week, as LU is set to finish its fall season at the Lindenwood Fall Invitational on October 21-23.
