Kansas City Chiefs release their third round draft pick
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Chiefs released third round pick KeiVarae Russell on Wednesday.
Russell was highly ranked in the draft coming off a senior year at Notre Dame in which he recorded 60 total tackles and two interceptions.
He was the Chiefs' second selection in the 2016 draft, but he was placed below sixth-round pick D.J. White and off-season acquisition Kenneth Acker on the defensive depth chart.
Kansas City also brought back linebacker Dezman Moses on Wednesday to try to help fill the defense.
The Chiefs gave up 21 points in the first half of their week one game against the San Diego Chargers in a 33-27 OT win. They will go on the road to Houston for week two to take on the Texans.
