Kansas City Child Dies From Stray Bullet
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Kansas City police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl, who was hit by a stray bullet
Police said the child died Tuesday evening at a hospital after being shot on the Fourth of July while she was outside in her uncle's yard.
The Kansas City Star reported that several groups of people were firing guns at nearby apartments about the time that the girl, Blair Shanahan Lane, was struck. But police said no arrests had been made.
Police were first called to the home Monday on a report that the child was injured by fireworks. When officers arrived they determined she had been shot. She was taken to an area hospital where she died.
