Kansas City Man Charged In Death of 11-Year-Old Girl
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A Kansas City man charged in the death of an 11-year-old girl who was hit by a stray bullet says he's ready to face the consequences of gunplay.
Prosecutors charged 50-year-old Aaron Sullivan on Thursday with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. He's accused in the death of Blair Lane, who was celebrating the Fourth of July with her parents at a relative's home in east Kansas City when the bullet struck her neck.
Sullivan was arrested after police traced the bullet's trajectory to a nearby apartment complex where Sullivan lived. Investigators say four men were firing Sullivan's Glock handgun into a lake about the time Blair was shot.
Sullivan told KMBC-TV he apologizes to the family from the bottom of his heart and is ready for the consequences of doing "something stupid."
