Kansas Newspaper Suspending Publication
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - NPG Newspapers Inc. is suspending publication of The Johnson County (Kan.) Sun.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports that NPG, the parent company of both papers, announced Tuesday it's ending publication of the northeastern Kansas weekly after this week's edition.
NPG chief operating officer Lee Sawyer said The Johnson County Sun could not withstand what he called " the severe financial downturn and changes in the media environment."
Sawyer also said other NPG operations are doing well despite the economic challenges.
