Monique Keys knows her twins Bria and Brailin are special.

"They're storm babies. They are Katrina babies," said Keys.

Keys' best friend Kathy Henderson believes too.

"These are miracle babies, these are blessed babies. They came early, they came healthy, they are doing fine," Henderson said.

When Hurricane Katrina ripped through Louisiana, Keys and her four sons were left homeless in LePlace, Louisiana.

"It was real hard. You had to go almost to like Baton Rouge to get ice and water and different things, food," commented Keys.

Meanwhile Keys was five months pregnant.

"No ice and it was hot. The mosquitoes were bad and I'm pregnant just walking around trying to find something," explained Keys.

With no home left, Keys and Henderson packed a rental car for the 15-hour drive to Jefferson City to move in with Keys' sister. Keys and Henderson arrived on October 13 and two weeks later, Keys went in for a routine check-up only to find out she was going into labor a month early.

Brailin came first an Bria followed a few hours later, but she had to be delivered by C-section. A month later life still hasn't slowed down for Keys.

"I still don't think I've gotten a good night's sleep yet. I'm still waiting for that good night's sleep," Keys said.

A week after giving birth, Keys and Henderson moved into their own home. Keys is going to try and return to Louisiana for Christmas, but said she, her kids, and Henderson have made a permanent move to Jefferson City.
