PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A fire has swept through an apartment complex about 30 miles north of Kansas City, killing one person.

The Kansas City Star reported that eight units in the 12-unit complex were occupied when the fire started Saturday morning in Platte City.

Authorities said only one person hasn't been accounted for and that person may be the victim. Capt. Erik Holland of the Platte County Sheriff's Office said the identity of the victim hasn't been confirmed.

The blaze destroyed the inside of the brick building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
