KC Fire Crews Evacuating Building Due to Gas Leak
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in Kansas City have been evacuating an apartment building because of an apparent gas leak.
Kansas City Fire Department spokesman James Garrett says fire crews confirmed the gas leak near the apartment building Saturday afternoon. Garret says several residents have been evacuated and traffic cordoned off around the area.
No injuries have been reported.
Garrett says it's unclear how many people are being evacuated, but fire crews have been checking the area for additional leaks. He says city buses have been called in for the evacuees to keep them warm.
The area is several blocks southeast of where a restaurant exploded into flames last week after an apparent gas line rupture. Several people were injured in that explosion at JJ's restaurant, and one woman was killed.
