KC Man Charged in Death of 11-Year-Old Girl
KANSAS CITY (AP) - A Kansas City man has been charged in the death of an 11-year-old girl who was killed when a stray bullet hit her as she celebrated Independence Day with her family.
Blair Lane was visiting her uncle's home in east Kansas City with her parents when a bullet hit her. Police said Thursday that they charged Aaron Sullivan, 50, with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in her death.
Sullivan was arrested after police traced the trajectory of the bullet from her uncle's backyard to nearby apartment complexes.
An employee at the Whispering Lakes complex told police he and three friends were shooting into the lake about the same time Blair was shot. Prosecutors say the crime lab matched Sullivan's Glock handgun to the 9 mm bullet that killed Blair.
