Kidnapped Baby Hearing Continues
UNION (AP) - The hearing on a gag order in the kidnapping case against Shannon Torrez is continued for another week. During a brief hearing yesterday, Franklin County Circuit Judge Gael Wood agreed to continue the hearing to September 18th. Torrez did not appear in the courtroom. Torrez is accused of slashing the throat of Stephenie Ochsenbine and kidnapping her week-old daughter last year in a case that drew international attention. The child was missing for five days before she was returned to her parents, unharmed. Abby's mother has recovered from the wound to her throat. Torrez attorney John Rogers says parties close to the case have already spoken too much to the media, prompting his request for a gag order.
