Kirkpatrick to Retire as Food Bank Director
COLUMBIA - Peggy Kirkpatrick, the Executive Director of the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, will retire from her position effective December 31 of this year.
Kirkpatrick has worked with the Food Bank for 22 years, and will pursue a full-time position in her ministry after her retirement.
According to The Food Bank, in 1992, Kirkpatrick's first year leading the organization, The Food Bank distributed 3,398,070 pounds of food. During 2013, The Food Bank the distributed 36,445,595 pounds.
"[Kirkpatrick] took that organization from the brink of closing its doors and built it into one of the top performing Food Banks in the nation with a budget now exceeding $5 million annually," said Tim Rich, Executive Director for Missouri United Way in a news release.
"The Food Bank stands as a testimony to the providence of God and the goodness of people," Kirkpatrick said.
"Peggy has done an outstanding job helping feed those in need throughout the Food Bank's 32 county service area and will be sadly missed by all for sure," said Mariel Liggett, Board President of The Food Bank.
