Klapperich Signs with CMU Women's Basketball
FAYETTE, MO -- Kaitlyn Klapperich has signed to play for the Central Methodist women's basketball team for the 2012-13 season, head coach James Arnold announced. She joins the Eagles after playing last season at Regis University, a NCAA Division II institution in Denver, Colorado.
"Kate is a really nice athlete who can play and defend multiple positions for us," Arnold said. "Her experience playing AAU for Coach Ray says a ton about her skill level, and his familiarity with her and her ability will be a big asset as she transitions to our program. We truly believe Kate's best basketball is ahead of her."
Klapperich is a native of Wasilla, Alaska, and had a decorated prep career at Colony High School, earning first team All-State and first team All-Conference honors in 2010 and 2011. She averaged 15 points per game her senior season and helped lead the Lady Knights to a 4A Northern Lights Championship in 2011, state runner-up finish in 2009 and 4A state championship in 2008.
Klapperich, a Business Communication major, was a member of the National Honor Society in high school, was on the Dean's List last year at Regis, and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Klapperich will be a sophomore next season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
