Daniel Bell, a spokesperson for the Missouri Veterans Commission, said even the smallest "thank you" can have an impact.
Tell our viewers about the heroes you know (even if it's yourself). We want to hear about trials and triumphs big and small - stories that span across generations.
There are nearly 500,000 veterans in Missouri, making it the 15th largest state population of veterans in the country.
Bell said Missouri veterans served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf Conflicts. He also reminded the community not to forget those who served during times of peace.
"Veteran's Day is a day to honor all veterans living and those who have passed away," he said. "We owe a very large debt of gratitude to the men and women who spent their time and lives defending our country, its freedoms and protecting us."
Bell said all Missourians, even those without a friend or family member who has served, to participate in local Veteran's Day celebrations on Nov. 11.
