KOMU re-launched www.KOMU.com, a multimedia website, today as part of its mission to provide the most accurate, up-to-date local news, weather and information to mid-Missourians.

"We're excited to bring the premier broadcast website to mid-Missouri," said KOMU General Manager Marty Siddall. "By utilizing up-to-the-minute reporting, online video and in-depth resources, we are setting the standard for breaking news and weather coverage and community information."

KOMU.com offers interactive, cutting-edge technology that provides 24-hour news, sports and weather coverage to mid-Missourians. KOMU.com also contains news stories and information exclusive to the site.

KOMU Weather Plus, another new service from KOMU, can be accessed on KOMU.com for the most up-to-date weather coverage from mid-Missouri's most accurate weather team. KOMU Weather Plus provides local weather information on demand and a constant five-day forecast so users can effectively plan ahead. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, Weather Plus is available over the air on KOMU-DT 8.2.

The new KOMU.com offers a rich, broadband experience, immersed with interactive features such as polls, RSS feeds, streaming video and community forums. These improved bulletin boards are dedicated to the communities throughout mid-Missouri, encouraging residents to discuss topics affecting their home towns.

In addition, the new site benefits advertisers by offering a multi-media package that includes KOMU-TV 8 and mid-Missouri's WB5. This package enables advertisers to reach new entities by combining KOMU.com sponsorships with targeted advertising schedules on both stations. The multi-media approach helps advertisers maintain their current customers while targeting a new, distinct group of individuals.

Since 1953, KOMU has been the leader in providing quality news and entertainment programming in Mid-Missouri. A wholly-owned auxiliary enterprise of the University of Missouri, KOMU serves Missouri citizens both as a television broadcaster and a teaching lab for the Missouri School of Journalism. KOMU News is the most decorated broadcast station in mid-Missouri for its newscasts, reporting, sports coverage and quality web coverage.

"Our new website is another means to improve not only our broadcast and web services, but also our teaching mission," Siddall said. "KOMU.com is a valuable step toward the future in television, advertising and teaching."
