Lady Vikings Split Saturday Volleyball Matches

MARSHALL, MO -- The Missouri Valley Lady Viking volleyball split their two matches at the Avila Triangular in Kansas City, Missouri. Saturday afternoon, losing to Avila, but defeating McPherson College.

The Lady Vikings fought back and forth with Avila in the first match of the day, going five full sets, but Avila pulled out the 25-18, 27-29, 25-14, 21-25, 10-15 win over the Lady Vikings. In the match Junior Outside Hitter Ana Calito had a double-double of 18 kills and 18 digs while Junior Middle Blocker Jada Hollinshead finished with 15 kills and four blocks. Also in the match Sophomore Outside Hitter Kaityln Kell had 14 kills and two aces.

In match number two of the afternoon the Lady Vikings made quick work of McPhersonCollege 25-21, 26-24, 25-22. Leading the way for MVC was Sophomore Middle Blocker Megan Hardin who had 13 kills and two blocks while Kell finished with another four aces. In the two matches combined Junior Setter Tarah Sweet had 76 assists.

With the split the Lady Vikings have an overall record of 10-11 with a conference mark of 2-5.

Up next for the Lady Vikings is the Haskell Quad in Lawrence, Kansas from October 19-20.
