Lawmakers Challenged Over Healthcare
The group presented its healthcare agenda, in hopes lawmakers will listen to their input before announcing a new health plan for the state.
"Everybody should be covered, and nobody left out, whatever kind of health care system we have," GRO member Pam Forbes said.
GRO rallied behind the concept of "everybody in, nobody out:" giving all Missourians access to healthcare. State Sen. Wes Shoemyer and other lawmakers attended the meeting. He thinks the governor should talk to more people before he offers a solution for the state's healthcare needs.
"I don't think that he's even engaged most of the groups that need to be engaged to get their ideas out there," Shoemyer said.
Representative Judy Baker is glad GRO spoke out for healthcare reform.
"Come on in, the water is fine, we are all in this together," Baker said.
Blunt's office says it has not announced anything regarding a new plan for health care in Missouri, but it is expected later this month.
