Marc Hart of Seattle spoke about his experiences as the gay child of a Baptist minister. He said he channeled his early struggles into starting Heartstrong, a group meant to help others who have trouble reconciling their religious background with their sexuality.
"We know there's at least 1,005 students that we've helped directly," Hart said. "These are people who have come to us for help and were still in contact with pretty much all of them. So we've been able to see the path of their journey from the time they first contacted us when they were in pain to today, when they're living lives that are happy and peaceful."
