Lincoln Men's Basketball player earns weekly honor
JEFFERSON CITY - After recording the third-best scoring performance by any NCAA Division II player this season, Lincoln University senior Anthony Virdure was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Against the No. 1 Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, Virdure scored 50 points in Lincoln's loss, accounting for two-thirds of the Blue Tigers' points. Virdure's 50 points in a game ranks eighth all-time in MIAA history. In Lincoln's win over Missouri Western on Saturday, Virdure recorded 13 points and six assists.
This is the second time this season that Virdure has been named the MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, and the fourth Lincoln player to be recognized by the league. Lincoln will host Lindenwood in its final home game of the season this Saturday at 3:30.
