JEFFERSON CITY - The Lincoln University Board of Curators approved a tuition increase and contract extension for President Jerald Jones Woolfolk Thursday.

Tuition will be raised by about 4 percent to $7,309.70 per year for a student taking 30 credit hours beginning this fall. Out-of-state students will pay $14,619.40.

Vice President for Administration and Finance Sandy Koetting told the board LU was the only state institution to not increase tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year.

President Jerald Jones Woolfolk's contract was also extended by three years.

Woolfolk joined the university in June 2018 after most recently serving as the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at the State University of New York at Oswego and previous stints at Mississippi Valley State University, CUNY College of Staten Island, and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

“I am committed to leaving Lincoln better than I found it.  I am committed to being here until I can hand it off ‘greater, better, and more beautiful than it was transmitted to me,'" Woolfolk said in a news release.

The new contract will run through 2024.

Curators also heard an update on the president's home damaged during after a May tornado. Facilities and Planning Director Jeff Turner told board members that while there was significant damage to the interior and exterior, the home remains structurally sound.

Turner estimated the home will take $1 million and one-year to repair.
