Local Food Pantry Stretches Across States
They handed out household items like diapers, soap, and toilet paper, as well as non-pershable food for the needy.
The food pantry manager said there is a huge need for assistance in Mid-Missouri.
She often sees people from outside Columbia, such as Sturgeon and Hallsville.
"Today we'll have individuals coming from Arkansas," Helen Robinson of the Latter House Food Pantry. "We've already got calls from Arkansas. We've serviced people from Texas, Oklahoma, Los Angeles...It's just all over. Just whoever is in need, you don't necesarily have to be a resident here. But if you're in need, we are here to help you."
In addition to the food pantry, latter house is doing a program this summer called "Snack-a-sack"
It provides kids with nutritious snacks for the week.
