Love INC. holds fundraiser to help families in Columbia
COLUMBIA - Love INC. is a non-profit organization in Columbia that helps individuals and families in crisis or in need of immediate attention. Now, the group is asking for the public's help.
On Tuesday night, the Chipotle on Broadway is giving Love INC. 50% of its proceeds when Love INC's name is mentioned. The money raised will go toward stocking bags for the homeless and helping more families get on their feet.
The organization assists families with furniture, cars and bills, and it holds educational programs for clients. The name stands for “Love in the name of Christ.” It is a worldwide program, and Columbia has its own Chapter.
Jean Williams, the program director said, "We believe in helping every individual and family that comes through our door, and its with the help of our donors and volunteers that we are able to help so many people"
Love INC. in Columbia also has a retail store named “The Love Seat”, this store is open to the public, but also provides services to families in need. Everything in the store is new or gently used, and it is all donated. The store provide things like household items and clothes.
The organization also provides people clothing for job interviews, gas money to get back and forth from work, beds for children, housing for families and tutoring for the families they work with.
"We have helped over 6,000 families since we opened in 2008, and we are constantly growing" said Williams.
