Low-Cost Meals in Moberly Area
Virginia Vilt is one of almost 400 people in the Moberly area who have signed up to receive low-cost food from her local church.
"For $25, with the food that you get would cost you about $75-$80 at the grocery store," she said.
That $25 a month averages only 89 cents per meal. The menu, which changes every month, includes fresh and frozen items such as chicken, steak, pork, vegetables, eggs and fruit.
"We've had people come in and purchase food packages that were obviously young professionals," said Jeff Howard, associate pastor. "We've had people come in and pay with EBT food stamps. It's just something that, it's a good deal all across the board."
Family Life Fellowship Church will start distributing food next week. Registration has ended for September, but residents still can sign up for October and future months.
